** Plan Our Date – Datebox review **

Although most people won’t admit it, relationships can take a bit of a hit when children come into the equation.

It’s not a bad thing to have a few hiccups, adjusting to a new baby can be difficult and finding the time to just be couple can be hard. Myself and Mr. C are normally so tired by the end of the day sitting down with a cup of tea is about the closest we get to date night most of the time.

So when Josh from Plan Our Date emailed me asking to review their datebox, I was intrigued and was more than happy to give it a go. I’ll be honest, I didn’t really know what to expect and I didn’t have high hopes, but I was pleasantly surprised.

So the ‘Plan Our Date Box’ arrives at my door and in it is an entire nights worth of activities and a set of instructions.

Step 1: Download Spotify and search for the Plan Our Date playlist – Okay so this was a slight bump in the road and we couldn’t actually find the playlist, but we found another random playlist and put that on instead.

Step 2: Who knows who best game – This was quite funny because you are given a list of questions that you fill out and give multiple choice answers for your partner to choose from. There were three tokens up for grabs which included breakfast in bed, a cup of tea and a massage. It turns out Mr. C and I know each other very well and got all but one of the questions right and the one we got wrong was about our dream holiday destination and neither of us have just the one. We declared a tie and decided to double the tokens so we both got all three tokens.

Step three: Making pancakes – Did I mention we had cracked open a bottle of prosecco? Well by this point we were a bit merry, so the making pancakes was a fun business. Thankfully all the ingredients (except the fresh ones like milk and eggs) come with the box and are already measured out and the instructions were so clear even after a tipple or two, we managed to make them and they tasted delicious.

Step four: Plan Our Date Paint – The next part of the date was a painting activity with the theme ‘Our favourite activity together’. Two paintbrushes, a set of paints and two canvases came in the box and we soon setting about painting our favourite things to do together. It’s not something we would have thought of doing ourselves, but we had so much fun. Mr. C painted a walk through the woods and I painted cuddles as a family with our two children. It was such fun talking about all of the adventures we have been on since we first took a walk through the woods to find a tree to climb so we could watch the sun go down all those years ago and the life we’ve built together since then. The final product can be entered in a competition on Instagram with the chance to win  six month subscription to the service, so we entered that! Although I’m not sure our works of art will be quite as good as the others that we had a sneaky peek at.

Step five: Make a cup of tea – We made a cup of tea, opened the packet of popcorn that came with the Plan Our Date box and put on a film. It was such a nice way to end the evening and it meant we could snuggle up on the sofa under a blanket at the end of evening… even if Mr. C fell asleep, while I sang along to Grease.

The verdict:

We had such a great experience with the Plan Our Date box, so much so we are going to sign up to a three month subscription. I think having a date night pre-prepared in a box that you can do at home is ideal for when you have children. It will be interesting to see if the date boxes that follow are as good as the first one, but I’m sure they will be. I highly recommend giving the Plan Our Date box a go, we had such a lovely evening we are already looking forward to the next box to arrive in the post.

  1. I really love the idea of this date box and would love to try it, so often when you have kids time with your partner is just overlooked

  2. Sounds like such a fun night, the painting would probably be our favourite. We’re kids at heart. Im definitely going to get a box! Found it because of your blog, thanks so much! 🙂

  3. I really like the idea, but it is a bit too pricey for us I think. Would be great as my partner works 2 jobs and I work 1 so we don’t get much time together.

  4. I would love to try this as now that we have children most evenings are spent in front of the telly !

  5. This is so cute, I would love to try it. It’s nice to break away from the usual dates and I like how this gives you all the inspiration needed!

  6. I absolutely love this idea. I think it is so easy to get swept up in life that we sometimes forget to make time for each other and this is a perfect way to schedule that time so it can’t be forgotten. I love the inventive ideas as well.

  7. I think this is a fantastic idea and i would love to try it out! I think todays lifestyles with working and children make it more difficult to think about and plan a date night with loved ones so i think that this would be the perfect tool to help you spend quality time with the other half
