Shape up Sunday #1

Two weeks ago I decided to put down the biscuits and start working towards getting back into shape. I’ll be documenting my journey back to fitness and over time will begin to include meal plans and what workouts I have been doing.

I’m more focused on how I feel opposed to my actual weight, after all muscle weighs more than fat. But I’ll document my weight as well as adding a weekly picture to show my progression.

We’ve never been a nuggets and chips sort of family, but we’ve never been super healthy either. I’ve a huge addiction to pasta and I’ve always been one for ‘homemade hearty meals’, so in order to give this health kick a good start, I invested in Joe Wicks ‘Lean in 15’. I’ve heard people raving about this cookbook for a while and now I can really see why. The meals are delicious, super easy to make and best of all, both my baby and toddler eat them! Winning.


In terms of exercise I do a mixture of cardio, weights, core exercises and yoga. I don’t want to be one of those people that lives at the gym, so I only go for 45 minutes, four times a week. Although I’d love to do more cardio, my chiropractor has told me to keep it light until I’ve seen the physio and stabilised my core, so I’ve limited myself to about 15 minutes of cardio each session. I do feel a lot stronger already though, so I may start a class in the next couple of weeks.


I adore yoga, it’s one of my favourite things to do. I feel more accomplished at the end of every practise and it really helps keep me positive and motivated. I’ve been practising yoga on and off for the last few years, but I recently started practising at least five times a week. It’s really starting to pay off, because this week I finally managed to achieve the raised lotus pose. It’s not perfect and it still needs a lot of work, but I’m so proud of myself for managing to support this pose.

  1. Best of luck Emma!! You look great already 🙂 I know what you mean about getting fit, I am trying to do the same at the moment. I need to tone up, I have been trying to exercise (with the help of Joe Wicks’ youtube videos) when I can around the kids, it is not easy but I am feeling determined to do it, I am trying to be good with food and cut down on alcohol too. I will be following your progress as no doubt it will give me inspiration to get my bum into gear! That yoga pose looks unreal, well done to you for achieving it 🙂 xx

  2. Go you! I’m excited to follow along your journey and hopefully it will inspire me to do the same! I really need a kick up the bum and get healthier! Well done for managing that yoga pose! As I said yesterday I’m really interested in starting yoga I think I’d really enjoy it xx
